Top 10 buyout candidates for OKC Thunder to consider
By Alex Mcewen
Georgios Papagiannis
Thunder Nation I know many of you have either never heard of or know very little about Georgios Papagiannis. Let me introduce you, he is exactly what Sam Presti looks for in a bench filler.
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
Papagiannis is the former 13th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft. Although he was the second to last lottery pick, in Presti’s eyes he was a lottery pick none the less.
It is perplexing as to why the Kings would give up on a lottery pick so quickly, then again they are the Kings.
Bottom line:
Papagiannis is very young and raw. OKC may take a chance on him based on youth alone. There are better candidates available. Papgiannins probably wouldn’t play much this season.
But, OKC does not own a first round pick in the upcoming June draft. Presti may view Papagiannis as an inexpensive young big man. I think he would be a fine signing.
