Top 10 buyout candidates for OKC Thunder to consider
By Alex Mcewen
Tony Allen
Premise:
This is not the same Tony Allen Thunder fans will remember from the many playoff battles when the OKC Thunder faced the Memphis Grizzlies.
Don’t be fooled by the name Thunder Nation. Allen is 36 years old. He is coming off a fractured left fibula. Allen’s defensive rating is 103.7 which ranks 88th among the 365 qualified players.
Bottom line:
That statistic is not great, but its not terrible either. I think Allen would be a solid addition to the Thunder. Tony Allen could provide pivotal defense in the playoffs when Paul George takes a rest. Allen’s value is especially interesting given Andre Roberson is out for the year.
Ultimately, (and despite his age) Allen can still bring more to the court than some of the OKC Thunder youngsters defensively. That asset alone makes him an intriguing option.
