OKC Thunder Buyout
BOSTON, MA – FEBRUARY 02: Marco Belinelli /

Marco Belinelli

Premise:

Unlike fellow buyout candidate Joe Johnson, Marco Belinelli can still shoot the three-ball. Among 180 qualified players Belinelli ranks 88th in three-point percentage at 37.2 percent.

Belinelli is basically an older more playoff savy Alex Abrines. Belinelli has played 48 playoff games. Compared to Abrines’ five.

The other factor which can’t be discounted is the time and knowledge Belinelli acquired in his time playing for Gregg Popovich. Belli has a championship ring which is something not one of the OKC Thunder members have.

Bottom line:

Marco Belinelli would not be my first choice out of the different buyout candidates. With that said, Belli offers tangible assets many other candidates don’t. His defense is a question mark, but that experience is palpable. And, don’t forget he’s delivered in those big games. So, ultimately, yes I would take him if all else fails.
