The OKC Thunder are peaking right as their schedule hits the roughest stretch of the season. Will they continue their winning ways tonight in Boston?
With the way there playing there’s a legitimate chance for the OKC Thunder to win 50 games this season. Considering the inconsistencies of this season, simply being able to type that sentence is exciting in itself. Tonight’s matchup against an injury-riddled Boston Celtics team gives Oklahoma City a great opportunity to extend their winning streak to seven games. More importantly it’s a chance to push their stranglehold of the four seed back to a two game lead.
A story on Steven Adams’ propensity to win jump balls
We begin with a story that Steven Adams himself deemed boring (he used different, NSFW wording though). While winning the tip seems mundane in the grand scheme of things, it’s kind of wild to see how important this team takes it. Fred Katz talked to Adams and Billy Donovan about the importance of getting that first possession and how it can set the tone for the rest of the game. I promise you’ll come away with an even greater appreciation for the Big Kiwi as you learn how he positively affects another minuscule aspect of the game.
"Mauer’s habits are easy to recall. Others’ are more subtle. By this point, the fifth-year center known best for his work on the margins, has them all memorized."

Kevin O’Connor’s four big questions are spot-on
The last ten games of the season are going to teach us a lot about this Thunder team. Is Billy Donovan going to start shortening the rotation in preparation for the Playoffs? Will we see more Jerami Grant infused crunch-time lineups? Can Corey Brewer continue his hot stretch of shooting into the Playoffs?
While these aren’t Kevin O’Connor’s specific questions, they go along with the piece he wrote yesterday for The Ringer. For those who think the website is totally anti-Westbrook/Thunder, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by his feelings about the current state of OKC.
"You can bet on Abrines being that ninth, considering his experience level overseas, and his prowess as a shooter. But it’s Grant who has turned into an integral reserve."
Previewing tonight’s opportunity for seventh straight win
And finally, we’re going to briefly preview tonight’s contest, courtesy of Thunderous Intentions staff writer Alex McEwen. Alex did a great job detailing what the Thunder need to do to secure a seventh straight dub. Boston’s defense is tough even without Marcus Smart (mostly because of Brad Stevens/Al Horford), so tonight should provide a great test for a hot OKC offense.
"Since Corey Brewer was inserted into the starting lineup the Thunder are 6-0"
