It’s all a matter of belief:
As several young teams prepare to make their foray into the postseason some are carrying in momentum and confidence. For example the Philadelphia 76ers current 14 game win streak (6 without Joel Embiid) has their confidence at an all time high.
However, how will those same players deal with the more aggressive playoff structure? Furthermore, the 76ers excel in a fast pace, so the half court set could potentially lead to losses. That factor alone could throw off a young team’s self assurance.
Next consider the OKC Thunder and their makeup. Without a doubt each of the OK3 have faced the pressures of postseason play. Moreover, Carmelo Anthony dealt with the Mecca like a master and Paul George navigated the basketball state of Indiana with ease and aplomb.
Leading the way is Russell Westbrook who of the three stars has dealt with more adversity and criticism than the majority of NBA players will face in their entire careers. With each question or criticism Westbrook remains nonplussed. After every loss Westbrook has never wavered in his belief of this squad. And after every win he simply looks at the media as if to say “what did you expect?”
Adding the victory over Houston backs up Westbrook’s unwavering confidence and radiate down the roster.
