In the news: OKC Thunder prep for Game 2

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - APRIL 15: Russell Westbrook

With the OKC Thunder taking the initial game the focus turns to Game 2 and capitalizing on the home court advantage.

Game 1 is in the books with ample positives for the OKC Thunder to draw upon as they prepare for Game 2. Key areas of concern are injury related with Paul George reaggravating a hip issue originally occurring versus the Hawks. On the opposite side of the floor rookie Donovan Mitchell deals with a sore to.e Both players indicate they’ll be good to go Wednesday.

Time to brag a tad after calling for ‘Playoff PG’ all season long?

Throughout the season I kept asking where playoff Paul George was. Part of my concern about PG sticking in OKC was the fact he wasn’t playing up to the caliber I was accustomed to seeing from him. So, when he dubbed himself ‘Playoff P’ I knew it was coming. Now that he has shown up it feels like vindication for my rants.

In fairness, because PG’s original residence was in the East I witnessed plenty of him, particularly in the postseason. When LeBron was in Miami, George took him on one on one with the Pacers almost upsetting the Heat.

This season two of the few times Playoff P showed up were the games versus the Raptors. It seems Toronto brings out that side of the wingman. Now that he has shown up, in retrospect perhaps it’s just simply a matter of George enjoying the Raptors matchup and it may have led to me expecting too much in season.

Hey, not everyone is Russell Westbrook, playing with the same intensity in season for a full 48. Regardless, he’s arrived now, so don’t expect him to disappear anytime soon.  George’s self titled doppelganger ‘Playoff P’ has arrived and is here for the long haul.
