Carmelo Anthony vs Derek Favors

The Carmelo Anthony experiment has failed, yet there is no time to dwell on the shortcomings. The time is now to make the adjustment. Prior to the start of the series many predicted Melo would dominate Favors on offense while Melo would struggle to keep up to Favors on the glass.

Neither of the two scenarios has come to fruition. When guarding one another Melo has outscored Favors 31-29. That is a matchup OKC had to win coming into the series. As for rebounding Favors has outrebounded Carmelo 30-26 in the series.

When Melo has been Favors primary defender Favors has gone 12-20 (60.0) percent from the floor. Favors has scored 51 total points with 29 coming against Melo.

Joe Ingles vs Paul George

When Paul ‘Playoff P’ George went off in Game 1 of the series it was proclaimed “there’s no way Ingles can guard George”. Well, things dramatically shifted in Games 2, 3, and 4 as Ingles won his battle against PG in three consecutive games.

Since Game 1 George has scored 73 points, 17 have come with Ingles as his primary defender. George has scored 23.0 percent of his points against Ingles, while Ingles has scored 69.7 percent of his points with PG as his primary defender.
