The Melo Chronicles

Besides the historic comeback, another hot talking point was Carmelo Anthony getting into a verbal altercation with Thunder assistant coach Maurice Cheeks. What wasn’t witnessed outside the arena was Melo’s heated exchange with Steven Adams.

During the timeout that essentially saved the Thunder’s season, Melo and Adams were going at it hand gestures and all. It was unclear what the argument was about. Raymond Felton at one point stepped in between his starting forward and center.

Before the timeout had concluded Melo walked away from the huddle. He waited at the scorer’s table for play to resume. In every timeout thereafter Adams sat on the bench from my viewpoint I did not see him speak another word in the huddle.

Maybe it was just tension boiling over from the 25-point deficit or possibly it sheds some light on where the problems have been within the team all season. Adams was visibly upset by what transpired between him and Melo. Another Thunder Assistant coach Vin Bhavnani was comforting Adams during a preceding timeout.
