OKC Thunder coaching decision: Billy Donovan in jeopardy
Media members
With some of the great basketball minds in broadcasting, it’s hard to ignore them as potential candidates. Since the move for Steve Kerr from TNT to the sidelines in Golden State, it’s worth considering.

Derek Fisher has spent a year in broadcasting and is also a former player who could be a dark horse to win the job. Fisher originally singed with OKC during the 2011-12 season and helped the Thunder reach the Finals for the first time. He then spent a year in Dallas before returning to Oklahoma in 2013. After retiring as a player, Fisher was hired on by Phil Jackson to be the head coach in New York. Which means he already familiar with Carmelo Anthony and Westbrook. Unlike George, Anthony is expected to opt-in to his player option no matter what, but it’s worth noting the former connection.
Another media member who might be a good candidate is Kevin McHale. As a former player and coach, McHale checks just about every box in a quality coaching candidate. His playing career speaks for itself with three championship rings and a long list of personal accolades. McHale also coached the Rockets for four seasons and had plenty of success with James Harden running the show.
At the end of the day, the NBA off season is always a whirlwind. Oklahoma City fans are still recovering from an emotional playoff series, so it’s unlikely Presti will announce any changes immediately. For now, we wait.
