Corey Brewer

The OKC Thunder added Brewer via the buyout market after standing pat at the trade deadline. Brewer was a vital addition after the injury to Andre Roberson. Brewer initially provided much-needed scoring putting in 74 points in his first six games with OKC.

In contrast, the players who started at shooting guard post-Roberson scored a combined 51 points in 17 games. Brewer eventually came back down to earth, but he was still better than the alternative options.

With that, let’s get to Brewer’s quotes

On his tenure with the OKC Thunder

"It was good. It was good. You know, it didn’t end the way I would have liked it to end, but I had a good time here. It’s a good organization. I have some great teammates."

Many players have come through the Thunder organization over the past ten seasons. Very few have openly said they did not enjoy their time in Oklahoma City. Maybe it’s out of respect or perhaps players genuinely enjoy playing for the Thunder.

Brewer is no different as he gushed over relationships, his teammates, and the organization overall.

His evauation of Billy Donovan

"No, I feel like that’s my man. It’s a tough job. He’s done the best he can do. I feel like he’s going to be better next year, have a chance to bring everybody back hopefully, and he’s going to be a lot better."

Corey Brewer played for Donovan in college and won two national championships at the University of Florida. Brewer’s endorsement of his former college coach is not surprising. Had Brewer declined to endorse Billy D massive red flags would be flying in the Oklahoma wind.

On free agency does he want to be back with the OKC Thunder

"More from Thunderous Intentions Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero? 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder I would love to come back here, but you never know. It’s the NBA. For me, I’ve been around a lot of teams, so I just hope I’m still playing next year."

Given how well Brewer played for the most part while in OKC it would be surprising if he is not on a roster next season. This scribe thinks Brewer remaining in OKC would be a great fit.

Pairing Brewer with Roberson would be a nice defensive tandem whether Paul George remains with the team or leaves via free agency.

OKC would be able to use Brewer to roam the passing lanes while Roberson sticks with his matchup.

Another bonus to retaining Brewer due to his age and miles he shouldn’t command more than the veteran minimum on the open market.

Given Oklahoma City’s payroll situation inexpensive contracts are a welcome sight. However, looking at Brewer’s twitter it’s unclear how likely his return is, the Uhaul doesn’t seem like a positive sign.

Brewer offered his thoughts on Thunder Nation

"It’s amazing, man. The fans here are amazing. Every night we play at Chesapeake, it’s crazy, just all the people around town are great. It’s just really good fans here."

Give yourself a pat on the back Thunder Nation you deserve it. Players are always blown away by the overwhelming amount of support you show. Whether it’s greeting the team at the airport, rocking Thunder gear, or being the sixth man inside Chesapeake Energy Arena it does not go unnoticed.

That’s it for me today Thunder Nation have a stellar Sunday.
