Terrance Ferguson season review – Rookie with big upside
Season evaluation / what to work on
Terrance Ferguson had a quiet rookie year. Perhaps his biggest splash was appearing in a Gatorade commercial with Paul George. That and the one good game.
Ferguson was not terrible, but when his number was called, he was not that good either. He is a rookie, so room for growing pains is built into this season review.
He spent most of his time on the bench, where he had every appearance of an excellent cheerleader. Staying engaged and enthusiastic in a bench role is a good sign that Ferguson has the right attitude.
The shooting was highly inconsistent and there were almost no supporting stats. That said, the three-point potential, length, and eye-popping athleticism mean that it is still too early to write off the young wing player.
T-Ferg gets at least one more season with the OKC Thunder to prove what he can do. Glimpses of a potent offensive asset were overshadowed by a lack of aggression and limited playing time this year.
Here’s hoping Terrance Ferguson’s rookie season established enough of a foundation for the Thunder to mold this young player into a viable weapon.
