OKC Thunder center Steven Adams offers details on his autobiographer and explains he inadvertently liked a salty instagram dissing Melo.

A handful of NBA players consistently offer the best sound bites. OKC Thunder center Steven Adams ranks at arguably the top of this list.  This because Adams responses are generally humor filled with occasional sarcasm mixed in. Yet, in terms of his profession, Adams is considered a supportive, loyal teammate.

Two news related items touched on these elements in recent days.

Adams Instagram Like – gaffe or subconscious thoughts?

Social media went into overdrive over what Adams claims were his pudgy figures. It sent droves of already disenchanted OKC Thunder fans to ponder if Adams feels the same as they do. More accurately — does Steven Adams want Melo out of OKC?

TI writer Wil Harrington provides the details on what happened and dives into the debate over whether Adams made a mistake or if this was something deeper.

"Steven Adams did not directly say anything, but may have let his feelings slip. The question on his true feelings (or perhaps subconscious feelings) got more fuel via social media. An Instagram post by “therussway” posed the question: “Who’s more valuable to OKC?” while showing a picture of the OK3 plus Adams. The Big Kiwi’s official account liked a comment that answered “All of them except Melo”."

Steven Adams – My Life – My Fight Autobiography:

Fans of Adams will be delighted to learn his autobiography is slated for release this summer (late July/early August). Most autobiographies occur at the latter stages of life when the person has a wealth of experiences to draw from. Not so the case for Steven Adams, but then again his life was anything but ordinary.

First of all, consider the fact Adams is the youngest of 18 children. Adams two brothers played basketball, but it was his sister Valerie Adams who gained prominence in the sporting world first. As the most dominant woman’s shot putter of her generation Valerie participated in five Commonwealth Games and four Olympics. Her medal haul is impressive with 3 gold and 1 silver Commonwealth medals and 2 gold and a silver Olympic medals.

Erik Horne of the Oklahoman wrote about the autobiographer. When queried on why Adams chose friend Madeleine Chapman as the ghostwriter his response is typically hilarious. was

"“No, I didn’t write it,” Adams told the media in February after a tweet from a writer in New Zealand revealed the first draft of the book. “I got a ghostwriter named Madeleine Chapman. (Adams adds..)“I can barely read, mate. I can’t write a book. Jesus.”"

Chapman and Adams met at 15 as they attended sister schools in Wellington. They reconnected in 2016 at a basketball camp.

No doubt the book will touch on the loss of Adams father Sid when Steven was just 13. Since the book won’t be available until late summer, TI’s Heather Koontz has Adams fans covered.
