Bates-Diop took a pretty massive slide during the prospect practice process. Much of this has to do with what position he’ll play. But, for the Nets they can afford to take a flyer and see if his skillset transfer to the pros.

"Defensively Bates-Diop excelled particularly this season guarding a range of positions including switching onto faster backcourt players. Whether that can translate at the pro level is the biggest question surrounding him."

Team needs:

Bench depth is a priority and finding players who fit the system Kenny Atkinson wants to run which means they need more perimeter shooters and shot creators. And if they can land some 3 and D types that would behoove the Nets.
