Paul George will host his second annual celebrity fishing tournament on August 4 in Los Angeles.

In early June of last year, Oklahoma City was celebrating the trade for Paul George. And a month after being welcomed in, George invited his new team to take part in the first celebrity fishing tournament. With the next one on deck, we’re not sure who will be joining him.

What we do know is George needs time on the lake to make decisions. He will likely be in a boat reeling them when he makes his final decision if he hasn’t already.

The lake is where George said he makes most of life’s tough decisions and gets through difficult times. He used the lake as an escape during rocky times with the Pacers and during rehab from his broken leg.

George’s initial move to Oklahoma City wasn’t completely his decision, but he used the lake to quickly bond with his new teammates. He was joined by Russell Westbrook, Josh Huestis, Billy Donovan and Sam Presti during the first celebrity fishing tournament.

One piece of good news is George now understands how difficult it can be getting acclimated to a new team. It took over half the season for the Thunder to begin playing consistently, and once it felt like they finally started clicking, Andre Roberson got hurt and they had a set back.

Now with Roberson set to be back for the start of next season, the hard part is over. Carmelo Anthony has opted in and they can run it back with everybody knowing exactly what to expect. And with his option for one more season, he could easily give it one more try with the Thunder before making a long-term decision.
