Free Agency – Offseason Mandate:

For years the league has been in a holding pattern awaiting the moment Giannis Antetokounmpo would make a deep run with his Bucks. I wonder if it doesn’t happen in this next season under new coach Budenholzer if the narrative will move off him onto one of the young rising stars.

The Bucks should conceivably be better than they are on both ends and particularly on defense. But, when push comes to shove they don’t seem to be able to clear the hurdle. They arrive at free agency needing to decide on how much they are willing to give Jabari Parker after two serious knee injuries.

Furthermore, the Bucks went out and nabbed Eric Bledsoe whose best-known play in the postseason was his back and forth with Terry Rozier. Worse the Bucks enter the moratorium with Bledsoe, Dellavedova, Jennings, Brogdon, and newly acquired DiVincenzo. I’m on the record as being very psyched about Double D so I wonder what move Milwaukee will make given they are desperate for help at the forward position and upfront, but theoretically shouldn’t be overpaying Parker.

Fortunately, there is a glut of bigs available few teams looking to add them or with money to spend so perhaps they’ll luck out. Still, I won’t be surprised if DiVincenzo is the most exciting thing that happens for the Bucks this season.
