Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are in a tough spot. Capped out for the foreseeable future, the Heat roster is devoid of All-Stars and relies heavily on a team system to win games. While this strategy works in the regular season, superstars will their teams to wins in the post-season. A roster without a superstar should not be in the luxury tax.

More from Thunderous Intentions

Oklahoma City could look to trade for Tyler Johnson‘s two-year, 38.5 million-dollar contract and third year forward Justise Winslow. Johnson is a solid wing player whose a 37 percent shooter from distance and a reliable defender.

Winslow is still on his rookie scale contract that oozes potential. He is a strong defensive minded forward with an improving three point stroke. He is the prototypical OKC Thunder type player – defensive, long and athletic. OKC could include a first round pick (that’s a reach) or second round pick(s) to sweeten the deal.

Heat GM Pat Riley despises tanking. However as the roster stands, they stand to be mediocre for the next three seasons. This move helps them moving forward.

Closing:

Ultimately, the power still lies in Carmelo Anthony’s hands because he has the right to veto any team with his no trade clause. But, the trio of options may be compelling for the star because Houston was always his top choice, Anthony Davis is a MVP type player to work beside and Dwyane Wade is one of his best friends.

With news of LeBron James signing with LA,  the Lakers may present a fourth option. It’s up to Sam Presti to fix this situation and although a buyout remains an option, a trade with returning assets would be the better option for OKC.
