OKC Thunder target Dragan Bender

Let me set the table here. The following trade for Phoenix is based upon their desire to move one of their young power forwards. The Suns have seven wings and four power forwards capable of sliding between both forward positions.

Dragan Bender took part in his third Summer League in Las Vagas and was heavily criticized for his performances against low tier talent. Its unusual for a franchise to ask a third year player to part-take in the basketball showcase but the Suns insist that Bender hones his skills. But, he was a massive disappointment much to the dismay of many Phoenix fans which plants him on the trade block.

Oklahoma City receive Bender who was the 6th overall pick in 2016 and provides a stretch big hybrid who shot a career best 36.6 percent from distance. At 6’11, he is an interesting prospect that provides depth OKC sorely need upfront.

Additionally, the Thunder receive sniper Troy Daniels. Daniels is a lesser known name but he can light up the scoreboard in a hurry. With shooting at a premium, it is surprising that he hasn’t been able to find a home. At 27 years old, Daniels is an upgrade at shooting guard and has no problems letting the ball fly.

The 76ers are searching for shooting to add to their roster after off-season departures of Ersan Ilyasova and Marco Belinelli. Abrines is a 38 percent career shooter with defensive chops similar (or slightly better) to Belinelli. Philly were able to give the Italian 20-plus minutes in the playoffs meaning Abrines can slide straight into the rotation.

Perhaps the purest shooter on OKC’s roster, he offers Philly what they have been searching for. Singler is a throw in to receive the Spaniard. This deal could work without Singler if OKC send roughly $1 million in cash and the Thunder receive a second rounder from Philly.

Phoenix receive Jerryd Bayless and a second round pick from Philly. Bayless is nothing more than moving salary to a team that needs veteran leadership and a starting point guard. It can be debated whether he is a starting guard nowadays but he offers Phoenix a veteran body to pair with its young star in Devin Booker.
