Contract and Trade Value

2018-19 – $2,500,000
2019-20 – Unrestricted Free Agent (UFA)

Bullock is on the final year of his rookie deal and is set to earn a decent payday next season. The Pistons elected to pick up his player option for 2018-19, making him an Unrestricted Free Agent for the 2019-20 season. Since teams have slept on his ability to play both sides of the ball, it keeps a lid on his value when he hits free agency next year.

His $2.5 million deal this season is a small cap hit that can be easily absorbed by Oklahoma City. However, Detroit are likely to command a player in return. One of the Thunder’s younger wings will be on the block and if Sam Presti can avoid giving up Terrance Ferguson, its a win-win. Should Detroit request TFerg, OKC will be in a tough spot given his potential to grow into a solid three and D player.

Final Thought

As I mentioned earlier, the most impressive part of Bullock’s career is his work in the LBGT community and his ability to accept people from various backgrounds.

On the Colin Cowherd show last year, Bullock opens up about the murder of his sister.

More from Thunderous Intentions

NBA players have ascended to become voices for political issues in the US lead by LeBron James. The league’s support of charitable work off the court has drawn admiration from around the world and having someone of Bullock’s personality in the locker room is great for team chemistry.

He would instantly impact the locker room as being a genuinely good guy, offering a stable voice for upcoming players and contributing to Oklahoma CIty’s team mentality.

On the court, Bullock is a tremendous threat from deep and doesn’t need the ball to be effective. He is one of the most underrated two-way players in today’s game with his game mirroring that of Trevor Ariza.

Barring injury, Bullock would be a tremendous upgrade on the wing and is a superb back-up to superstar Paul George. With Detroit picking up his option for the upcoming season, it appears he is available for trade.

Oklahoma City should aggressively pursue Bullock and bring him to OKC.
