OKC Thunder in the news features Russell Westbrook philanthropy, Bill Simmons continued belief the Brodie wasn’t 2017’s MVP and top offseason moves.

Russell Westbrook third annual Why Not? Comedy Event:

This is the third year Russell Westbrook will host a comedy event tied into charity. Those who follow Westbrook’s philanthropic efforts know his charity is called Why Not? and this event is similarly aligned to the brand.

This year the event occurs on Friday, October 26 and like last year’s event once again the superstar is hosting the event with Demetrius ‘Juice’ Deason.

More from Thunderous Intentions

Anyone 18 or over can attend the event which features comics, athletes, celebrities and corporate sponsors tied to Westbrook’s charity.

This season the event’s proceeds will be allocated to a cause Westbrook has previously worked with – feeding the hungry.

The specific recipient of the funds is  the nonprofit organization – the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

For more information on the event see Brandy McDonnell’s NewsOK article.

"Last year’s show sold out. Tickets for the 2018 edition go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at ticketfly.com. Ticket prices range from $40 to $1,000For more information, go to www.towertheatreokc.co"

Bill Simmons still not a fan of Westbrook’s MVP season:

For those who follow my musings it’s not a secret Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe are among my favorites. Albeit, Simmons does tend to lean toward homerism with his hometown Celtics, but how can I judge someone for being a true (in this case green) fan? One area where Simmons and I land on completely opposite sides of an argument is the Harden versus Westbrook 2017 MVP.

Apparently, the media master isn’t letting go of his angst over Westbrook’s MVP season. On his instagram account Simmons is pictured with his podcast guest Ice Cube.

In the picture Simmons is wearing a t-shirt with James Harden and Russell Westbrook’s faces and at the bottom 2017 MVP Voting. Harden is check marked noting Simmons’ preference. I guess he’s not letting this argument go, despite Harden winning the award this past season.

Top moves made in offseason:

Although many pundits cited retaining Paul George as the best offseason move Sam Presti made Scott Rafferty of Sporting News has a different take. His article outlines the best move made by each team this offseason.

"While Schröder has some glaring flaws in his game, he enters 2018-19 as perhaps the best backup point guard in the league. And for a Thunder team that ranked No. 29 in bench scoring last season, adding someone who can create their own shot in pick-and-rolls and isolation should help them stem the tide when Russell Westbrook takes a seat on the bench."
