NBA 2K19 released OKC Thunder superstar’s rating this week and he comes in at a robust 93 placing him one point behind Stephen Curry who has a 94 rating.

Every year NBA fans wait to see what their favorite players will garner from NBA 2K as they present their yearly upgraded ratings. Earlier this season Paul George got a disappointing 89 rating. Disappointing because he’s deemed one of the best two way players in the league. This week OKC Thunder top man Westbrook’s ranking came out. The 93 is considered very good given only Steph Curry is ranked (at least for the moment) ahead of him in the point guard rankings.

Presumably winning Most Valuable Player in the league in 2017 and his back to back triple-double averages helped his cause. Looking at some of the other verified rankings finds only a few players ranked ahead of Westbrook and it’s hard to argue with them.

At the top of the list is the NBA King LeBron James who garners a 98 ranking. As mentioned Curry has a 94 ranking. Three others join Curry with the same 94 rating; Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard. Each of the five higher ranked players are considered MVP candidates, so again a fair rating. Notably, Kevin Durant and James Harden are among the many players whose 2K19 ranking has yet to be announced.

With Westbrook’s 2K19 rating release there was plenty of banter on social media about it. But, it wasn’t about the rating itself. Rather fans focused on the authentic look of Westbrook as previous iterations weren’t as close to his true image.

Westbrook finished last season with another Beastbrook set of per game averages: 25.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, 10.3 assists and 1.8 steals. Presumably his 4.8 turnovers and inefficient 29.8 percent three point percentage cost him at least the one point differential Curry holds over him.
