OKC Thunder big man Steven Adams opens outdoor court in New Zealand
OKC Thunder center Steven Adams unveiled new outdoor court for children in his home country of New Zealand.
Maybe the one place Steven Adams is loved more than in Oklahoma City is in New Zealand. And it was there where he teamed up with the community of Palmerston North to open a colorful basketball court.
The court is located in Raleigh St. Reserve park and is creatively painted to represent togetherness and unity. While in New Zealand, Adams will also host a two-day basketball camp, training with he the top-40 high school players in the country.

It has been a busy summer for Adams, who has seemingly spent a majority of his time overseas. In addition to opening up a basketball court, he also participated in the second-annual Steven Adams Invitational golf tournament, where he drove the ball nearly 300 yards in the long drive contest. And prior to hitting the links, Adams was found playing one-on-one in South Korea.

We’ve learned a lot about Steven Adams throughout this off season. Not only have we seen his charitable spirit, but he’s opened up about his battle with depression and even his absurd eating schedule. And with his biography My Life, My Flight set to release on October 9, we will fully understand the Thunder big man.
There aren’t a lot of details about the book yet, but we do know Adams dives into his battle with depression, talks about his love for coach Gregg Popovich and shares his feelings toward former Thunder guard Reggie Jackson who demanded a trade in 2015.
It’s been a big year for both Adams and his team. Kiwi will return with largely the same group, but with a few new faces. The stakes will be raised this upcoming season, as it’s starting to feel like now or never for the OKC Thunder. And Adams will have a large responsibility in getting the job done.
