Patrick Patterson is a cinefile.

In addition to basketball, Patrick Patterson also has a passion for film. According to NewsOK:

"“Since his childhood in Huntington, West Virginia, Patterson has been entranced by a day at the movies. His father, Buster, a Navy veteran, frequently worked weekends at Walmart, and Tywanna would take her son to the ornate old Keith-Albee Theatre. He’d see kiddie flicks and comedies — and the occasional grown-up drama — and he fell in love with it.”"

Ever since, Patterson has been known to frequent the movie theater – either alone, or with 100s of his closest friends. In early 2018, he invited OKC fans to join him for a screening of Liam Neeson’s “The Commuter.” It was the second invitation of its kind for Oklahoma City fans, but nothing new for Patterson himself. During his time as a Toronto Raptor, he hosted similar events for Raptors fans.

When asked by SLAM if basketball ever gets in the way of a particularly great opening night, Patterson said:

"“Star Wars: The Force Awakens! I had my costume all set up. Of course, everyone is going to this movie theater dressed up in their Star Wars costumes, all the characters that have ever been made. I got my tickets ahead of schedule, without even looking at when we were playing, and then next thing I know, I look at the schedule and we’re playing out of the country, so I was quite upset.”"
