TARRYTOWN, NY – AUGUST 11: Terrance Ferguson /

Instead of college, Terrance Ferguson played overseas.

Terrance Ferguson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and moved to Dallas, Texas, when he was young. His promising high school career led many to wonder where he would give his collegiate rights, but many were surprised when Ferguson waived college in exchange for overseas ball.

During his time at Advanced Preparatory International in Dallas, Ferguson was a top-20 player and made separate commitments to both Alabama and Arizona before ultimately deciding to play overseas in 2016.

A three-time gold medalist with Team USA, Ferguson participated in the 2016 McDonald’s All-American Game and the Nike Hoop Summit. He took home the MVP award at the Summit.

Ferguson signed with the Adelaide 36ers for the 2016-’27 NBL season in July of 2016. In the 30 games he appeared in, Ferguson averaged 4.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game. He declared for the NBA Draft in 2017, where he was selected by the OKC Thunder as the 21st overall pick.
