Athleticism is in Kyle Singler’s blood.

When Kyle Singler was drafted by the Detroit Pistons as the 33rd pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, he had four years of collegiate starting experience under his belt. Having played for the Duke men’s basketball team, he earned MVP in the Final Four of the 2010 NCAA championships.

And. while he may not see much time on-court for the OKC Thunder these days, the 30-year-old can thank his genetics, in part, to getting him this far in his career. Singler’s father, Ed, was a quarterback at Oregon State from 1979-’82. At that same school, Singler’s mother, Kris Brosterhous, played basketball.

In addition to several extended family members who played college sports, Kyle Singler is also related to Edward “E.J.” Singler. E.J., who currently plays for s.Oliver Wurzburg of the Basketball Bundesliga League, played college basketball at the University of Oregon. During his senior year, he was recognized with a spot on the All-Pac 12 first team.

E.J. made his NBA debut in 2013, after going undrafted and joining the Detroit Pistons for the 2013 NBA Summer League. He signed with the Portland Trail Blazers shortly after, and was waved about one month later.
