Patterson’s skill set and mindset make him the perfect fit for the Thunder’s starting lineup.
Even though Grant is the better overall player, he’s not as good of a shooter as Patterson nor is he as impactful without the ball.
Patrick Patterson excels where Jerami Grant comes up short.
He’s always looking to make the extra pass. His presence spaces the floor for his teammates. He drains the three at a significantly higher rate.
Billy Donovan would be getting the most out of Grant if he were to use him as an impact bench player.
He would not be fulfilling any of the Thunder’s needs on offense if he were to be selected as the Thunder’s new starting power forward..
Patrick Patterson, on the other hand, would be able to fulfill those needs.
