Lakers defeat OKC Thunder 111-108

The following season coming off their championship the Lakers were feeling their oats and Bryant was his ever-impressive self. The difference this season was the OKC Thunder were also beginning to recognize what it would take to become a contender. This was Bryant’s highest-scoring regular-season game ever against OKC and every one of his 40 points was needed to seal the Lakers victory. It marked a turning point for the Thunder as the youngsters felt they were within striking distance of what was at that time the best team in the Association.

Bryant dropped 40 points on 14 of 26 shooting and got to the line 14 times hitting all but two of those free throws. In addition, the Mamba grabbed eight rebounds, dished six dimes, snared two steals, and was a plus five (+5) in the match.
