Oh, what could have been. I know I’ve talked a lot about the former OKC teams and lamented on the potential those teams once had, but this is probably the first time that a dunk has truly been able to illustrate that potential in an enticing way.
Look at the chemistry between Durant and Russ on this play. The trust KD has in Russ’ ability to dunk this even with the distance between Westbrook and Durant, Westbrook and the basket, and Westbrook and the ground. He has complete trust that Westbrook is going to be able to make this play.
They arguably wouldn’t have reached their top potential as individual players had they stayed together, but their potential as a team was something special.
