Number 8: Game 1 vs. Miami Heat 2012
The Thunder have only reached the NBA Finals one time in their still early tenure in Oklahoma City. Which, is no small achievement, as nine NBA teams have never reached the NBA Finals.
When Oklahoma City reached the Finals Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, and yes James Harden were all still in the infancy stages of their respective careers. Looking back now, it was a long shot to think OKC could take down the veteran-laden Miami Heat. However, that did not prevent the young Thunder from stealing Game 1.
Game Specifics
- When: June 12, 2012
- Where: American Airlines Arena – Miami, Florida
- Opponent: Miami Heat
- Final score: 101 – 94, Thunder win
The Thunder may never go back to the NBA Finals, or they could return this spring. Sports, especially the NBA, can be highly unpredictable. Be that as it may, OKC got there once in their first 10 years.
That is more finals appearances than the Hawks, Hornets, Nuggets, Clippers, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Kings, and Raptors combined. Thunder Nation has enjoyed an unfathomable amount of success in their first decade of existence. Thus their fans should consider showing a little more patience when they are complaining about playoff outcomes.
