March 30: Toronto Raptors at OKC

The Thunder took both games against Toronto last season, but that shouldn’t dissuade you from tuning in to this years match-ups. The Raptors have been a dominating force for the past few years and besides a change in coaching and a recent trade, nothing indicates that this season will be any different.

With DeMar DeRozan gone after a trade with the San Antonio Spurs, the Raptors are looking to finally win a championship with Kawhi Leonard and new head coach Nick Nurse. Even though Leonard hasn’t played since December of 2017, he was averaging over 20 points a game before his injury. It is a bit of a gamble, but if it pays off the Raptors could make a deep playoff run and potentially make it to the finals.

Let’s not forget the last game between these two squads served up one of the most entertaining Thunder wins of last season. Unfortunately the officials tarnished what was an amazing OKC win failing to call two fouls on OKC then ejecting DeRozan, Ibaka and Coach Casey (for a fan’s comment). As even the Raptors announcers said this was likely an OKC win regardless. But, teams use recency bias, so expect the young Raptors to use this as fuel when the squads meet this season.

For this reason, the two games against the Raptors this season should be a must watch for Thunder fans. They could not only be entertaining, but give insight on OKC’s overall strength as well.
