OKC Thunder in the news for September 17 features fans pick for most memorable game and Bleacher Report notes teams best-worst case scenarios.
The days are falling by as the OKC Thunder players are nearing a return to the court. With that the features we’ll focus on today revolve around fans picking their most memorable Thunder games and the best and worst case scenarios for OKC this season.
Most memorable game?
NewOK ran a poll asking OKC Thunder fans which games in history ranked as the most memorable. I always wonder when we run similar polls what your main determinant is. Presumably wins take precedent – but sometimes a game where the Thunder battle back and still lose might also factor. Thinking back in history the loss in Game 6 t the Golden State Warriors definitely resonates. Yet, is that a game that would register as most memorable?
Likewise those darn whistles can drive a super fan crazy when it seems a game was lost based on calls. Not to open an old wound, but recalling some of the games in the Thunder’s only finals appearance sure would rank in this category. Perhaps they fall under most frustrating rather than most memorable.
Some fans might feel an attachment for comeback wins like the one this past offseason when Russell Westbrook went Beastbrook on the Jazz and almost single handedly decimated the entire Jazz team as he refused to let OKC lose.
Erik Horne of NewsOK pondered te same questions no doubt when running this poll. Since I don’t want to play spoiler I’ll just post the link to the results here. This way you can see for yourselves which games moved you to vote.
Best and worst case scenario for 2018-19:
Bleacher Report writer Zach Buckley examined every NBA team with a view to what their best and worst case scenarios are.
Over the next few weeks Thunderous Intentions will dive into projecting these scenarios too. We’ll dive into every player expected to hit the court in training camp and what they’ll need to produce for a successful season. As Buckley points out though much will be placed on the two stars shoulders and how Dennis Schroder integrates will be key to how high the team can climb or (perish the thought from your consciousness) how low they could fall.
"Best CaseRussell Westbrook‘s knee surgery doesn’t cost him any regular-season games, and the Oklahoma City Thunder hit the ground at an Olympic-caliber sprint. Statistically, there isn’t a better two-man tandem than Westbrook and Paul George. Steven Adams gets All-Star buzz. Dennis Schroder draws Sixth Man of the Year votes."
