OKC Thunder in the news serves up a recap of Sam Presti media day, a foray into Space Jam 2.0 and a must read feature from TI writer Stephen Dolan.

Two more sleeps until the OKC Thunder players arrive for Media Day and three until training camp begins. Hard to believe the offseason which at times felt like an eternity is almost over. This season, perhaps there is a greater anticipation with the depth GM Sam Presti added via his typical sweeping Magician’s wand.

Sam Presti holds court:

Ahead of the OKC Thunder Media Day on Monday, September 24, General Manager Sam Presti met with the press to offer a statement and answer questions. TI writer Rylan Stiles offered the top five takeaways from the presser. Obviously these would include the GM’s responses to injury updates (Westbrook/Roberson), additions to the roster and items like system changes.

Catch Stiles full article via this link.

"He provided updates on injuries to star point guard Russell Westbrook, and lock down shooting guard Andre Roberson. He went on to talk about newly acquired Dennis Schöder, the offensive system the OKC Thunder want to run–key word being run–and the starting lineups. So sit back, relax, and let us dissect the words from Sam Presti who sadly did not make another A Tribe Called Quest reference."

OKC Thunder Roar from the Silence:

In what can be deemed a ‘must read’ Thunderous Intentions writer Stephen Dolan serves up an offering which paints a visual picture of Oklahoma. Even if you’ve never visited OKC, Dolan’s article will leave you with an impression of what it must look and feel like.

More importantly the “Roar from the Silence” delivers a schematic of the past decade and what the basketball team and city have endured the past few seasons. Yeah, I’m not giving you much because this is one of those articles you’ll read, bookmark and revisit time and again. Therefore I’ll tease you with the two paragraphs below and a video which if you haven’t previously witnessed will wonder how it’s possible you hadn’t. I’ll just invite you to click here, read Dolan’s brilliance and thank me later.

"From the beginning, there was always something about this team. Something quaint and charming, yet, at the same time loud, riveting, raucous. The OKC Thunder came to this (if not maligned, disregarded) state in 2008, and immediately granted it a national identity. From the beginning, the nature of the OKC Thunder matched their city. They were children, not worthy of respect until they forced it. They were Thunder U, and ahead of their time, and they were this:"

Space Jam 2.0:

With news LeBron James will star in the remake of Space Jam II fans are speculating which current players should:

1) co-star in the movie

2) possess a talent the Monstar’s would want to steal

Hoops Habit editor Gerald Borguet offered his take on the matter. He selected Chris Paul perhaps due to his banana boat ties with James and potentially for his point guard skills.

Arguably, OKC Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is the most logical player to man the point given there isn’t any player who comes close to his ferociousness on the hardwood. In fact, his dunks already summon thoughts of the Monstars. But, to Borguet’s point Russ might actually be scarier in real life than a cartoon version of himself.

"Damian Lillard and John Wall are great, but they’re not popular or screen-friendly enough to make the cut. Russell Westbrook would be terrific in a movie like this, but to be perfectly honest, a Monstar version of Russ would actually be less intimidating than the real version of Russ, so that rules him out."

Not to give away all of Hoops Habit choices I won’t play spoiler here. Instead, read the article to discover the other choices Borguet makes.

That wraps up in the news for September 22nd. Thunderous Intentions will serve up player previews from now until season start along with plenty of other goodies. Therefore, make sure to bookmark TI and visit us daily for news and analysis on your favorite team and players.
