Chris Fisher joins Fox Sports broadcast as the new play-by-play commentator of the OKC Thunder.

The OKC Thunder named Chris Fisher the new play-by-play commentator to join the Fox Sports broadcast Monday morning. Fisher joins the Thunder after eight years of serving as the play-by-play announcer for his alma mater, the University of Southern California basketball and football teams.

Chris is an exciting addition to the Thunder family and our broadcast team,” said Dan Mahoney, Thunder VP of Broadcasting said in an OKC Thunder press release. “Besides being an experienced, talented broadcaster with a passion for basketball, Chris is a first-rate person. We believe that on and off the air, he will be an excellent representation of our team, our community and our partners at Fox Sports Oklahoma.”

More from Thunderous Intentions

Fisher replaces Brian Davis, whose contract was not renewed by Fox Sports following 10-years of service. Davis was suspended in his final season for using a racial slur during an OKC Thunder broadcast, and was subsequently suspended one game. Although it was never specifically stated, Fox Sports’ desire to part ways was more than likely due to the incident.

Returning to the broadcast team will be Fisher’s partner and color-commentator Michael Cage, sideline reporters Lesley McCaslin and Nick Gallo, along with Antonio Daniels and John Rhadigan in the studio.

The incredible relationship between the Thunder and its fans is well recognized,” Fisher said in a statement. “I am thankful the organization has put me in and I look forward to continuing to promote this amazing partnership.”

It’s an opportune time for the young broadcaster to get a foot in the door, as the Thunder tip-off the season with a new-and-improved bench, looking to make a push for a championship.

Fisher made an appearance during the OKC Thunder’s media day and will be behind the mic for the first preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks on October 7.
