During OKC Thunder Media Day TLC clarified how to pronounce his name and his favorite OKC restaurant. The two-way players discussed various topics.

Media Day is the rare instance when reporters have access to every player on the OKC Thunder roster. Whether they wish to interview super star Russell Westbrook, or two-way players such as Tyler Davis and or Deonte Burton each player was made available.

During their time at the podium Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Davis, and Burton provided some insightful and lighthearted responses. Before jumping into their quotes, a brief summary of what a two-way player is; for many years ‘two-way player’ was a term used to describe a player who plays offense and defense.

However, last season the NBA offered a new contract option for players who would split time between the G-League and the parent NBA club. The two main differences between a two-way contract and standard contract are, the player does not count against the 15 man roster and the player can only spend a maximum 45 days in the NBA. With that, let’s get to the trio’s quotes:

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot on why he prefers to be called Tim/Timmy:

TLC did not discuss this subject at the podium, instead he discussed it with Thunder studio analyst and sideline reporter Lesley McCaslin on the team’s Media Day stream. McCaslin asked how to properly pronounce his name after he told her, she added you do not like being called your full name correct? McCaslin and TLC shared a laugh, he responded with a definitive yes, Because when he hears someone call him ‘Timothe’ he thinks he is in big trouble.

Moreover, for anyone curious about how to pronounce TLC’s full name it is: TEAM-oh-tay loo-WA-woo cab-uh-RO.

*Tyler Davis speaks after TLC

What was it like to play with a broken nose?

Deonte Burton: ‘Scary. It was really scary to be playing with your like nose broke and not knowing like everything right away. So that was really nerve-racking.’

What made you want to sign with the OKC Thunder?

Tyler Davis:  ‘When I came here for my NBA Draft workout, I could just remember thinking about the people I had met and how well they treated me or whatever, but they took care of me and they welcomed me, and it was just an excellent organization.’

What is the best restaurant you have eaten at in OKC?

Luwawu-Cabarrot: ‘So far the best restaurant’s I’ve eaten at are Cheever’s (Cafe) and Red Prime (Steakhouse)’

In closing, the two-way players will not play much if at all for the Thunder this season, but they will be with the OKC Blue and perhaps they can have impressive season’s in the G-league. As for TLC, he could become the best backup small forward in Thunder history or he could battle with the rest of the backup wings just to see the floor.
