OKC Thunder howl in Twin Cities – 5 takeaways from dominant victory
Confidence and Swagger:
As per above the nod of approval Billy Donovan paid to Terrance Ferguson earlier in the day paid immediate dividends. Billy D stating TFerg earned the right to start seemed to bolster the sophomore with confidence as he produced an overall strong 2-way effort in the win.
It was a swiss army type performance by Ferguson who finished the night with 6 points, 2 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a plus differential of 11, second only to Adams/Grant plus 12.
TFerg wasn’t the only wingman who put on a show. Rookie Hamidou Diallo served notice he won’t be idly waiting for his shot. As the TV announcers noted Diallo was defending right down to the wire in spite of the large lead held by OKC.
His stat line showcased how valuable he was in the win with 8 points, 6 rebounds (2 offensive), 2 assists, 2 steals and got to the line for 2 free throws. He doesn’t look like a rookie on the court and I have to keep reminding myself he is because of how naturally he’s taken to meshing with his pro teammates and the OKC system.
