OKC vs Detroit

Oklahoma City’s first preseason game was competitive, it featured ten leads changes and eight ties. Despite All-Stars George and Griffin sitting out the contest.

Look at that Bison go

Thunder mascot Rumble the Bison often takes a backward half-court shot in between time-outs or during intermission. However, his shooting percentage takes after Russell Westbrook, rather than Steph Curry. It was good to see Rumble knock one down, perhaps he worked on his accuracy this past summer.

Dennis’s debut

This was not the first time Schröder stepped inside the Peake, he played there multiple times as a Hawk. But, this was the first time he played a game against a real opponent as opposed to a practice squad in an OKC Thunder uniform, inside the Thunder’s home arena.

Schröder clearly wanted to make a good first impression and he seemed to do too much at times during the contest. Overall it was a good debut and he looked more comfortable in his second outing against the Wolves.

Close, but no cigar

At one point in the game, the Thunder built a 10-point lead, but it was not enough as the Pistons ultimately won the game 97-91. OKC presented as outmatched and out of control at times, but this was their first official match since the Jazz eliminated them in Game 6 of the first round, and OKC as a group looked more poised in take two vs. the defenseless Wolves.
