OKC travels north to run with the Wolves
The OKC Thunder’s second preseason game went much better than their first, demonstrating what a difference a super star presence can make, even in a preseason game. OKC beat Minnesota in blowout fashion and the game was never in doubt for Oklahoma City.
Moreover, keep in mind, this is still preseason, therefore the results matter much less, than the appearance of the product on the floor. Other than a sloppy start to the second half, OKC looked crisp and clean.
Never change Michael Cage, never change. Between sketchy assumptions and stories of playing with a toy called Stretch Armstrong when he was a child, Cage is a delightful local broadcaster. Considering OKC did not retain their long-tenured announcer Brian Davis this offseason, Cage’s stabilizing presence is welcomed.
Schröder’s second chance
So far so good on the Schröder experiment. The German guard has exceptional chemistry with Steven Adams, as we learned from Chris Paul’s state farm commercial last year, chemistry is hard to force when it does not exist, (example the failed Melo experiment) and impossible to deny when it does exist.
Stat recap
PG13 picked up, right where he left off from the Blue & White scrimmage. Adams looks bigger, stronger, and more poised so far during preseason play, if Adams preseason performance translates to the regular season Adams could garner the first All-NBA selection of his career.
That’s it for this edition of Sunday Social, check back next week for a social recap of OKC’s final two exhibition games.
