It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. For the first and only year in franchise history, the OKC Thunder advanced to the NBA Finals, but ran into one of the greatest teams ever assembled.
LeBron James was as unstoppable as can be and led the Miami Heat to a gentlemen’s sweep over the Thunder.
But before the abrupt ending, OKC fans were treated to some of the best basketball ever played inside Chesapeake Energy Arena.
And it all started with a 97-89 win over Orlando. The win was highlighted by 30 points from Kevin Durant and 19 points from James Harden.
Although the memory of getting beat in the Finals will remain the most prominent from that season, fans shouldn’t forget how fun the journey was. To that end, several teams in the league are seemingly in basketball purgatory, with no clear plan to make a title run.
Oklahoma City has been very unfortunate when it comes to injuries and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But don’t forget to enjoy the moment. It’s not always about the ending, it’s the journey.
