OKC Thunder: 5 takeaways offer film on how to fix what’s wrong after game 2 loss
Final Thought
This is an usually long takeaways list but OKC have plenty to think about. While Westbrook’s return will strengthen Oklahoma City’s line-up, the superstar won’t mask all of the Thunder’s problems.

The two biggest issues from OKC’s opening games are Donovan’s rotation choices and the lack of offensive imagination. Pressure is mounting on Donovan to make this season work and after two games, its difficult to remain optimistic. With Oklahoma City’s fan base slowly but surely beginning to turn on Billy D, calls for his departure are getting louder by the day.
The Thunder continue to remain static in offensive sets and after broadcasting their desire to live on the break, they did the opposite last night in Los Angeles. PG’s inconsistent offense coupled with OKC’s lack of perimeter shooting is going to hurt the Thunder long term unless they get creative with the ball. Isolation offenses are effective but when shots aren’t falling, they’re going to need a secondary game plan.
Luckily for OKC there are 80 more games remaining. Russ is expected to return in the Thunder’s home opener against the Sacramento Kings and his presence on court will make a tremendous difference. With Schroder shifting to the bench, I expect Oklahoma City to be a totally different team and hope to see Russ create more havoc in a Thunder uniform.
