OKC Thunder Grades: Mavericks end streak and trample in victory
By Asad Jamal
OKC Thunder struggle offensively in loss as the Dallas Mavericks score over 100 points again.
I’ll put this simply: the Thunder were pretty terrible today. Not everyone, but many. And frankly, that’s all it takes to drop a game in the NBA. So I’ve got good news and bad news.
The good news is there are still 70 more games to go in the season. The bad news is there are still 70 more games to go in the season.
I love my OKC blue, but boy the team made it hard to bear it tonight.
This should have been a fun, classic, Texas shootout. But since the glaring “Draw!” of the opening buzzer, the Thunder seemed to misfire over and over again. Now, I mean that both literally and figuratively.
The Thunder misfired as is showcased by their horrific, near nightmare-inducing shooting numbers tonight. But they also misfired in basic decision-making a lot of the time.
When the time to foul came along, they let them have easy layups. When the time to let them take a contested shot came, they fouled (which seems to be the biggest problem for OKC defensively). But it wasn’t on defense alone.
Aside from a few standouts, the Thunder’s shot selection tonight was far from perfect. A few standouts include Paul George and Raymond Felton, but for two entirely different reasons. PG13 seemed to be making smart plays and sharing the ball at the right times most of the night, while Raymond Felton seemed to forget that he had other teammates on the floor and decided to chuck up SIX 3-pointers despite entering the game shooting an abysmal 0% on the season (and believe me he has been taking shots).
Bottom Line: Russ, please come back soon!
Disclaimer: Be cautious when reading the rest of this article as exposure to the following grades may bring back terrifying nightmares from that class you failed in high school. You know which one I’m talking about.
Let’s get to it then.
