And, babies make five! OKC Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook and wife Nina welcomed twin girls Skye and Jordyn to their family this weekend.

When the lineups came out Saturday for the OKC Thunder it stated Russell Westbrook and Terrance Ferguson were not present for personal reasons. Both players are expecting children so it was a natural assumption this might be the reason for their absence.

Turns out for Westbrook, wife Nina and son Noah it was precisely why. Nina Westbrook gave birth to twin girls.

Feels like the game of basketball may have influenced the naming of the little ladies as Westbrook’s tweet announced to the word.

Should Skye and Jordyn Westbrook ever decide to play basketball those names are perfect. I wonder if Jordyn is a nod to Michael Jordan who Russell works closely with on his Jordan Brand.

As per the above instagram, Nina Westbrook posted a picture of the girls displaying their name bracelets which is how we learned the Westbrook’s named the girls Skye and Jordyn. The message Nina provided was “Mommies girls are here and healthy“. Russell posted the same picture on this Twitter account.

More from Thunderous Intentions

The timing of the twins arrival for Russell Westbrook happened to coincide with his ankle injury which has kept him sidelined through the past six matches. although he’s been witnessed on the practice court. Current reports noted the Brodie was taking part in some contact but Royce Young stated in his article Westbrook was likely returning versus the Suns prior to his wife’s call.

"Westbrook, who was a full participant in a contact practice on Friday and went through the team’s shootaround on Saturday, appeared set to return against the Suns. However, he left after the team’s shootaround to fly to Los Angeles to join his wife, Nina, for the birth of their daughters on Saturday night."

With the OKC Thunder on a three game road trip, it also begs the question if it might be wise to just wait until the team returns home prior to working Westbrook back into the lineup. With the victory in Phoenix, it moved the Thunder to 10-5 on the season and winners of 10 of their last 11 matches.

Up next the Thunder play Monday, November 19 in Sacramento a game in which Westbrook definitely won’t play. Following the Kings game, the team will travel to Oakland to face their nemesis Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, November 21.

No doubt Russell and son Noah are enjoying helping out Mom and new sisters as the family of five ease into their new schedules.

Thunderous Intentions sends out our congratulations to the Westbrook family and look forward to seeing pictures of the little Westbrook darlings.
