Welcome to The Current, a new style series with the play-by-play on OKC Thunder fits and fashion.

With five international flavors (Steven Adams, Dennis Schroder, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Alex Abrines, and Abdel Nader), two Nike Signature athletes (Russell Westbrook and Paul George), and one reigning king of the 2018 NBA Style Awards (Russell Westbrook), the Thunder are one good-looking team. Here are the major plays for Thunder fashion of the season so far:

OKC Thunder Sneaker Showcase:

Paul George wins overall with the sleek design and most aesthetically pleasing colorways in the Nike PG 2.5s.

The 2.5 is not yet customizable with Nike ID, but I  totally envision myself in a luxe suede version like Lebron did with his Soldier series (Blush pink! Nike, give me a call…).

One pro-tip I’m picking up from big man Steven Adams is to start wearing ankle supports with high tops because he looks absolutely Boss, a rare occasion where function elevates fashion.

Ugliest Shoe Award: Dennis Schroder:

KD, to Nike: “So for my new shoes, I hate cohesive colors and I want people to be a little embarrassed that this is a Nike Signature shoe.”

Nike: “Say no more fam:”

The “Comic Book Hero Disguised as a Civilian” Aesthetic

When you look like a god among men who happen to be top male athletes, you can wear flip flops with your face on them. And lots of Kiwi camo.

❆ Joggers are definitely just thick man leggings…but PG is looking killer cool and cozy in his long-john looks.

Hair Revolution: Dennis Schroder & Jerami Grant

Schroder’s Streaks

In case you didn’t know, the patch of blond sported by Dennis Schroder in seasons past was an idea from his mother, a hair salon manager back in Germany, in order to set the guard apart from his peers.

This year saw #17 with a new look to go along with his new team, and while it’s back to a standard buzzed black now, there is no way the international star is done catching looks with his hair.
