The OKC Thunder held on against a scrappy Hornets team, doing what they had to do to get yet another victory.

The OKC Thunder win again! This is becoming something of a thing, if we’re being honest. The Thunder have won 12 out of 14 games following their 0-4 start, for a grand total of… 12-6.

Russell Westbrook was spectacular in this game, putting up his usually remarkable stat-line, but while also showing the same amount of buy in that has become a staple of this team so far this season. Kudos to Billy Donovan.

Russ had 30 points on 18 shots, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. Dennis Schröder had 23 points, and Paul George added a well-rounded 19 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Steven Adams was good, with 13 points, eight boards, and four (!) assists, and Jerami Grant scored in double figures yet again.

In the absence of Andre Roberson, Terrance Ferguson, and Hamidou Diallo, 2-way player Deonte Burton stepped up big throwing down two massive dunks, and adding 11 points of his own into the mix.

In the end, some Russ clutch rebounds (stat-padding!) and free throws sealed this Thunder win.

This win currently puts OKC in the two seed in an incredibly congested Western Conference Playoff picture. This could all change any day. Indeed, if could all change in one day!

When the Thunder play the Denver Nuggets on the second night of a back-to-back (as are the Nuggets also, but they blew their opponent out, so there is something of a rest advantage. The Thunder, though, at home for both, have a travel advantage), the result could swing the standings drastically.

This will be the first division game for OKC this season, and as congested as the West is, they’ll be important.
