OKC Thunder youngsters key in defeat of Hornets: 3 takeaways

Dennis Schroder offers a glimpse of potential
Dennis Schroder’s never been a super consistent guard, but it’s performances like the one he had against the Hornets where you can really see why the OKC Thunder bought into his potential this past offseason.
He scored 23 points which included solid perimeter efficiency of 4 for 8 from deep. Additionally, the German point guard added five rebounds and an assist. Bottom line, Schroder looked like the guy Sam Presti thought he’d be coming from Atlanta: a reliable tertiary playmaker who could take some of the weight off the shoulders of Russell Westbrook and Paul George.
Thank God he did, too. George had one of his trademark 8 for 21 from the field games and usually, when that happens, Oklahoma City has a hard time winning.
Schroder probably won’t perform to this level every night, but if he can keep scoring he could really help OKC.
