In a blow-out win, the OKC Thunder beat the Detroit Pistons by 27. Here are three big takeaways.

Monday night’s win against the Detroit Pistons was one of the biggest of the year for OKC Thunder. They were up from the start, closing out the first quarter up 26-17 and just never looked back. The Thunder spent most of the game from that point building upon that lead, at one point leading by an obscene 35 points and generally appearing to be in a completely different universe than the Pistons.

Even though the margin by which they won was admittedly huge, the Pistons aren’t a joke this year. They were one of the hotter teams in the league coming into tonight, winning five straight and distinguishing themselves from some of the forgotten teams in the East. So utterly dismantling them by 27 points is no small feat for this Oklahoma City team.

The way they did so, isn’t either. They got really good production across the board in ways they usually don’t – something that usually happens in blowouts like this one. They had six guys finish in double digits and just put up a barrage of attacks on the overwhelmed Pistons throughout the night. Their defense was also impeccable, holding Detroit to just 83 points and to just two guys with over ten points. With all that said, here are my three biggest takeaways from a statement win in Detroit.
