Batman and Robin

The old Batman and Robin comparison certainly fits here but for just one night, PG was Batman and Russ was Robin. In just one year, its amazing how much the chemistry has developed particularly the trust Russ has in PG. In the Thunder’s comeback yesterday, Russ took just two shots posting ZERO points, 5 assists and ZERO turnover’s while allowing George to do his thing.

While their playing relationship should be envied by players across the league, it appears there is a level of love between the two.

This play takes some serious chemistry and a set of kahuna’s to try at this juncture of the game. Down 10 with 5:10 remaining, George makes a run along the base line and catches a beautiful alley-oop pass from the Brodie for the two hand slam.

But the one that caught my attention followed PG’s game winning three with 3.1 seconds remaining. After sinking the shot, George searches for Russ, acknowledges the pass and gives him a hug.

For the salt consumers or haters around the league, this was officially PG’s first game winner and it was beautiful.

Chemistry extends beyond Russ and PG

There is something different about this Thunder team compared to last year. They are relaxed, laid-back and appear enjoy each others company on and off the court.

Check out the team reaction following after the comeback was complete.

Russ, Steven Adams, Hamidou Diallo, Terrance Ferguson and Alex Abrines have all missed time yet, have continued to roll on to wins. Billy Donovan and Sam Presti have done a terrific job assembling a roster that fits various needs and Donovan’s coaching style. The next man up mentality has been true in the Thunder’s case as Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Deonte Burton have performed exceptionally well when called upon.

This is not a shot at Carmelo Anthony by any means but the team chemistry is undeniable. Who doesn’t love some Dennis Schroder cheese after PG hits the game winner?
