The OKC Thunder hung around, but in the end the Denver Nuggets were just too much, and the Thunder were just too little.
The OKC Thunder dropped one in Denver tonight. It was not, exactly, one that they should have won. But it was, exactly, one that they absolutely could have won.
The Thunder managed to stay within striking distance the entire game. Steven Adams was a monster. Paul George threatened late-game heroics that never quite came to fruition. The Thunder couldn’t get a stop, or missed a layup, or fumbled a rebound.
It was just that kind of night. In a vacuum, this kind of loss to a really good team would just be an also-ran. This one feels a little more important, though.
This is the second loss of the season, already, for the Thunder against the Nuggets. With as tight as the West is, and with as tightly as the West will surely finish, tie-breakers could matter.
