Fit

If Oklahoma City trade for VC he will receive playing time but his role is likely to lie at the power forward position. His high IQ, solid shooting ability and experience will serve the Thunder well when playoff time rolls around.

As it stands, Jerami Grant and Paul George are the only Thunder players shooting greater than 35 percent from deep. Carter would arrive to OKC with the third highest 3-point percentage, providing the necessary space Alex Abrines and Patrick Patterson are failing to provide (shooting slumps).

While VC isn’t a marksman by today’s standards, teams will respect him on reputation alone.

More from Thunder News

Atlanta are one of the worst teams in the NBA looking to rebuild its franchise from the bottom up. With just six wins in 27 games, its safe to say the Hawks are going to embrace the tank in order to pick Zion Williamson in next year’s draft.

VC signed a minimum deal late in free agency thus sending someone like Abdel Nader or Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot will get a deal done. Atlanta are looking for young prospects and both aforementioned players fit the bill.

Final Thought

It would be wise for Oklahoma City to seriously consider adding VC given his experience, skill set and ability to positively contribute to winning. Sure, he’s 41 years old but Carter is still a fantastic player who is reliable in big moments. Additionally, the Thunder could also do with a veteran voice to help guide the team. With Championship aspirations driving Russ and PG, they too need a veteran voice to guide them when they get down.
