OKC Thunder naughty list: Top 5 enemies of Russell Westbrook
Between his highly-intense competitive nature and his all-out hustle, OKC Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook has a knack for making enemies.
Before social media and before the rules adjusted in favor of the offense, there was considerably more physicality and genuine dislike for other teams and opponents. With the advance in technology and a different perspective on an ever-changing world, the current generation of players tends to be more friendly and supportive of each other.
But in a new era of opponents being more like colleagues, Russell Westbrook is a throwback. He’s not out there to make friends or earn the respect of his opponent. He’s out there for one thing and one thing only – a win.

Although he never intentionally hurts opponents, Westbrook visibly shows a disinterest in them. Like an unleashed beast, he’s willing to go through whoever stands in his way to win. And in doing so, Russell Westbrook created a lot of enemies, as he did with Jamal Murray on Friday.
Judging by Westbrook’s reaction, Murray wasn’t even the guy Westbrook had an issue with. By all appearances, Westbrook was ready to snap and Murray just happened to be the closest enemy at the time.
Call him a sore loser or a breath of fresh air as a throwback, but Westbrook genuinely doesn’t care about anything other than winning, his family and his teammates. Perhaps even in that order. Murray is hardly the first player to have an issue with Westbrook, and he’ll undoubtedly won’t be the last. So in the spirit of his most recent beef, here’s Westbrook’s top-five enemies. Merry Christmas!
