Russell Westbrook is still fast:

Earlier this week De’Aaron Fox stated he was the fastest player in the NBA. Speaking to Chris Haynes who cited John Wall and Russell Westbrook as fast players. In response, Fox said, “Oh I’m faster than John Wall”. He was a little more respectful to Westbrook saying “Russ is explosive, if we are talking about baseline to baseline with the ball in my hand, I’m definitely faster”.

The truth of the matter is Fox has been clocked at .1 faster than Westbrook. Although technically that makes Fox faster it doesn’t take into account the combination of Westbrook’s size which easily is greater than Fox. In the game when Russ went end to end there were Kings players he barrelled through based on his speed and size.

Knowing how much Westbrook uses any little thing for motivation it wasn’t a surprise he took the opportunity to showcase that speed. After one such rush Russ turned and via lip reading, it was clear he said: “I’m fast, I’m too fast”. Gotta love our Beastbrook.

I remain a big fan of Fox who put up solid numbers in the contest, but Westbrook’s position atop my favorite list remains in tact.

Russell continues to transition into his new role of playing more off ball, being more of a facilitator and also playing with more emphasis on defense. His 112th career triple-double showcased all those attributes as he registered 19 points, 17 assists, 11 boards, and six steals.
