The OKC Thunder managed to hold on in Utah, claiming a share of first place. Paul George was a huge reason why. Topic: Thunder is here with more.

The last time the OKC Thunder were in Utah, they were having their season ended by the Jazz. Paul George was on a mission to avenge that tonight.

To be honest, this article should just be the words “Paul ” and “George” repeated 150 times until we link to the podcast episode. He was just that spectacular. 43 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, five steals, and all his usual awesome plays that the box score doesn’t capture.

Paul George did it all, including 22 points in the third quarter, outscoring the Jazz all by himself. And still, at the end of the game, he credited his struggling teammate, Russell Westbrook, with the “biggest play of the game.”

Russ sacrificed his sixth foul to prevent a game-tying dunk by Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell would go on to miss a free throw, sealing the win for OKC.

This one was really satisfying, given what happened last year, and it put the Thunder up 2-0 over the Jazz in the season series. That’s something that could come to prove important, with how jumbled the West standings are.

And not only that, it ties the Thunder with the Denver Nuggets in first place tonight. The Thunder have a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves tomorrow – a chance to take sole possession of the top seed.
